152mm mortar 1931

AMVAS, was this weapon a mortar or a Gun? Was it Widely used? Where and When?

Well... It's really mortar. I'll scan its picture a bit later. It looks like common howitzer but differ from howitzers of that period by large elevation angle (72 deg. vis. 40-50 deg. -howitzers). It was designed by "Rheinmetall" for the USSR. 8 units were built in Germany - the other in the USSR. On Nov. 01 1936 there were 100 such mortars in RKKA. They were used in divisional artillery instead of common 152mm howitzers till 1943. As the number of these mortars were too small, I have no additional information about specific divisions which were equipped by them
