Stuffing speakerbox and internal volume

I am about to venture to build my first set of speakers. Not sure which yet but had a question regarding the stuffing wool stuff. When a internal volume is defined for a type of speakers and a box can be built as long as internal volume is what is stated, when you stuff the box with the speaker fluff stuff, do you fill the box completely and if so, how much do you pack it in? and 2nd, does the stuffing and foam affect the internal volume calculation. I mean if you stuff it, do you have to change the internal volume of the speaker box?

Re: Stuffing speakerbox and internal volume

From what I understand( and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) the box size can vary about 10% before parameters change , so the stuffing should not drastically change the volume the speaker "sees".When stuffing the box , don't pack the wool or whatever you are using too tightly and make sure it is away from the woofer. Also if you are using a ported design keep it away from the port as well. I believe the object of stuffing the box is to eliminate standing waves.
