Re: Lyra Speakers

Don't worry about standing wave. Just make sure you build a strong box with good bracing. The bass driver is placed at an offset with respect to the height of the cab so I guess standing wave shouldn't be a problem either. I think if the bass is at the middle of the speaker height then it could be a problem.

Also speaker cab is not big enough for standing wave to be a problem.

As far damping material, if you're box is strong and it is of ported, you will need very little damping. I've build the Eros whose enclosure is designed for critically damped, I used almost no damping material at all.

Re: Lyra Speakers

Hello Mark...

I make my Lyra's out of 5/8 inch Partical Board. I was worried about the Particale board being "too lively" so I lined the insides of the box with a "camping mat" bought at K-Mart for 3 or $4.00. It worked GREAT and my cabinet is just as "dead" as 3/4" MDF.

I built my Lyra's with a Vifa D26 tweeter that I happened to have on hand, they are otherwise "as the Reverend specified".

I like mine a LOT - they are better than described in the Lyra text.

Also built the Veritas'....Sonic Heaven!
