Just wondering 🤔 what people think about the Bright Carvings label. They have released quite a few archival records and continue to do so. I've bought one or two LPs thusfar but not delved that deeply. Any of their releases grab your ears?

Gomrath - s/t
This is an archival release from the Bright Carvings label released last year. Gomrath were an unsigned band from London, and the recordings date from the early seventies. It's really rather excellent psych rock, which is somewhat reminiscent of Cream, Tull or maybe Caravan. That said, they have their own style, and the lead guitarist is particularly talented. The only drawback is the low-fi quality of the recordings - only two tracks were recorded in a studio.
Released in a limited edition of 227 copies and it's now hard to track down. Fortunately, the whole album has been uploaded to YouTube. Keep your eyes on Bright Carvings. They are releasing some very interesting music.
I've got most of BC releases and I wasn't disappointed. There's a guy on the tube who has uploaded most of BC and SC releases, so you can listen and judge yourself!:grimacing:
Thanks for the feedback Gian. Did anything on the label really grab you? I do listen to samples on the Tube but there is so much hype nowadays and so many reissues of "lost classics". I've been listening to this genre since my teens but if just doesn't seem to dry up. And some of it is of poor quality or poorly recorded or both!

I was lucky to find a cheap copy of the original Diabolus album on Bellaphon, never found any other info about the band so far, so knowing about an unrleased album is great, can't wait for this July release.
But news don't end here, Diabolus started as Pink Cheeks and had a 30' album acetate recorded in 1969, reissued in only 5 copies in 2019!

Here's my review of Elandill
Elandill - s/t
Elandill is another of the Bright Carvings label archive releases. In Elandill's case, only one acetate is known and that was discovered in a London charity shop. The whole (rather short) album is to be found on YouTube if you're interested.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the album, it has that early progressive feel and the lead singers ethereal voice is quite appealing. A strong Yes influence is evident.
BTW, Elendil (rather than Elandill) was a character in the writings of J.R.R.Tolkien, so maybe that's where they got the name. Bright Carvings date it to around 1970-1 and I think I'd agree. A fine find!
