I’m active duty Navy and came here just to salute the disgruntled sailors who painted “For Sale” on the side of their ship. Amazing prank. I wanted to find out what repercussions they faced from their Captain. I also discovered this mighty ship was credited for downing two enemy aircraft. Such rich history in this little ship and its crew. |

My Dad was a plank owner on LSM 88. Among other things the invasion of ISHIMA. I thank GOD Harry dropped the bomb and the japs gave up. Dad got home. If we had invaded Japan how many more Americans would have died? |

My father in law served on the USS LSM 144. in going through his belongings, found numerous photos of the ship, the Philippines and Okinawa, plus several crew members. I would like to find a good home for these, any suggestions? |

I served on USS LSM-319 which the Australian Army renamed AV1353 Harry Chauvel. I sailed this ship from Sydney to Saigon Vietnam and return during May-July 1970. Then on AV1354 Brudnell White USS LSM-477 sailing again up and back during Sept-Nov 1970. We have published a book called \"Sailing Through 32\" as our Unit name for all 4 LSM\'s was 32 Small Ships Sqn. During late 1971 the unit was disbanded and the ships sold for scrap. |
